Uppsala, Sweden -- October 10, 2006 -- MySQL AB, developer of the world’s most popular open source database, today announced that the Swedish branch of International Data Group (IDG), the world’s largest publisher of IT-related information, is migrating all its online news services to a new content management system (CMS) built upon the MySQL open source database. The group’s two main Web sites -- IDG.se and ComputerSweden.idg.se -- have already completed migration, with the remaining Swedish IDG properties lined up to follow.
“Our old Microsoft-based content management system was outdated and needed to be replaced,” said Lottica Fredlund, Webmaster at IDG.se. “We needed more speed and performance to meet increasing demands. After careful evaluation, we picked the Polopoly CMS with MySQL as the backend. Polopoly can be used with different databases and our main consultant on the project recommended MySQL as being reliable, cost-effective and easy to work with.”
